502 Cars- Graham Rahal Performance Cars and Coffee

502 Cars- Graham Rahal Performance Cars and Coffee

This was the first true cars and coffee since the fall, so I decided to drive up to Indiana and go check out what was there. Because of the amount of awesome vehicles that were present at the meet, there will probably be more than one part in this GRP series.

This beautiful white GT was one that I was able to see the first time I visited GRP back in august, but couldn’t take pictures of so this is the first time you can actually see it. The car has some very unique features such as the active rear wing on the back of the car which will actually adjust itself depending on how much downforce you need as you are turning, speeding up, and braking. An interesting design feature in the headlights is how different they look compared to other cars you see. They have this special rectangular design that looks awesome every time you stare at it.

Ford GT

This Ferrari is pretty much a race car for the streets. With 769 horsepower, the car is able to blast from standing still to 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. These insane stats are due to the massive 6.3 liter V12 engine powering this car, which only weighs 3350lbs, and the 520lb-ft of torque which it produces. Personally, either the fender louvres on the rear wheels, or the awesome diffuser. The cool thing about the diffuser on this car is that it actually has a built-in rain light to allow drivers behind you to see the back of the car. The only real use of the vents over the rear wheels is to provide airflow to cool the brakes because of the heat the pads produce while braking hard.

Ferrari F12 TDF

I would consider this car to be the predecessor to the F12 TDF above. Because this is an older model, the performance won’t be as good as the newer car, but this is still an amazing car. The engine is a 6 liter V12 producing 661 hp, almost 100 less than the TDF, but still way more than most cars you see on the street. One of the cool technical and design features on this car are the front brake rotor covers to prevent brake dust getting on the car. The feature comes from Formula 1, and looks interesting as well as being a technological development.

Ferrari 599 GTO

This might have been the coolest car that I saw at this event. This Porsche has been dubbed part of the “holy trinity”, a collection of three cars all of which being hybrids. These three cars are the Porsche 918, McLaren P1, and Ferrari LaFerrari. With 887 horsepower and 944lb-ft of torque, it is the most powerful production porsche ever and is able to hit a top speed of 214 mph, all as a convertible. With a price tag of  $1.45 million, this car is very special and extremely rare. My favorite part about tjis car is the top mounted exhaust that exits right behind the heads of the driver and passenger seats. This allows for anyone riding in the car to hear the entirety of the hybrid 4.6 liter V8 that gives this car a heartbeat.

502 Cars- Graham Rahal Performance Visit

502 Cars- Graham Rahal Performance, Brownsburg, Indiana

Huge thanks to Graham Rahal Performance for letting me come out and take pictures of some of the vehicles that were there. I really enjoyed driving out there and spending some time to just take pictures and talk. These are some of my favorite things that I saw when I was up there.

This beautiful Mclaren was a sight to see as I walked through the door to the main showroom. The paint that this car is specced with is a special job from McLaren Special Operations (MSO), as you can see labeled just in front of the rear wheel wells, and is deemed the Galactic Burst Senna. This car is the next generation of the McLaren hyper cars, following the legacy of the P1, which every new Senna is able to out-perform. This car is equipped with the standard McLaren 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged v8 engine putting out around 800 horses to the rear wheels. This car has probably some of the craziest design aspects out of most super and hyper cars, considering things like the two massive fans a the front of the car, and active aero from the massive wing on the rear of the car. Not to mention the glass panels on the bottom of each door allowing the passenger and driver to see the ground below them as they are driving. Mclaren Senna MSO

I have taken pictures of many different R8s, but i think that this one might be the most spectacular. The lime green on this car is so stunning that it almost hurts your eyes to look at, but is also amazing to see in person. The black gloss accents like the optional blacked out Audi badge and branding, as well as the black grille and rims create such a nice contrast to the lime green. This 2020 R8 is equipped with a 5.2 liter N/A V10 engine putting out around 620 horsepower. Some might notice that these are similar numbers to those of the Lamborghini Huracan EVO, because the two actually share an engine. I think that if I had to choose between the two, my pick would be the Audi because this thing can bean absolute rocket with a twin-turbo kit on it. Audi R8 V10+

This was a car that definitely was able to draw my attention. I was told that this special Shelby was imported from Japan, which I thought was pretty cool. I then decided to do some deeper research and found out that this shelby is just one out of tenn total models produced. This special Japanese gt500 isn’t specced with full right hand drive, but does have a speedometer that reads as kph instead of mph, and other special features only found on japanese automobiles. This Mustang comes with a 7.0 liter V8 engine with 335 horses and only a 3-speed manual gearbox, although the manufacturer did have the option of a 4-speed manual as well. My favorite part of the exterior design of this car has to be the hood because of how special and different it is compared to other Mustangs of the era. 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Fastback

This might be one of my favorite cars that i saw at GRP, besides the Ford GTs and Mclaren Senna. This Ferrari has been dubbed, unofficially, the Captain America for its red white and blue paint job. Although others might not like this scheme, I happen to really like it because I feel that it kind of stands out compared to the full red bodies that you find on other Ferraris. The pista is the newest in the 488 line, and comes with a 3.9 liter V8 putting out 711 horsepower, able to accelerate this car to 60 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds. This car was made for the track and going fast around corners, which you can see from the massive vent on the front of the car providing better airflow for more downforce to help the vehicle stay planted on the road. This is, technically, one of the most perfect supercars because of the mid-engined platform, meaning that the engine sits behind the driver, but in front of the rear axle, the rear-wheel power output, and the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. Another green beast on the showroom floor, but this one with two less cylinders and two more turbos. This McLaren doesn’t top the Senna, but is definitely up there on the list of my favorites. This car comes in MSO napier green with the rare option of the factory roof scoop, providing more air to the engine for better cooling. This MSO 675 comes with the same engine as the senna, but with less power, at about 665 horses compared to the Senna’s 789. Though this is an older car, it can definitely rival many of the brand new supercars of today and from when it was released. A pretty cool design aspect of this age of McLarens is that the headlights are designed after their logo, which you can see in this first photo. This car has nearly every carbon fiber option available for this model, and an even rarer spec is that they are all matte carbon fiber, as you can see on the mirror caps. McLaren 675LT MSO

This car was my mother’s favorite of the bunch that we saw. This baby blue Porsche 911 just so happens to be one of the rarest out there. This Porsche, named the “Malibu” is specced with the most powerful engine the company allows, a 6-cylinder engine with 4 liters of displacement and 390 horsepower that propels the car to 60 miles per hour in just under 3.3 seconds. This car has been refurbished with a full ipod-generation infotainment system, sharing that which one can find in Ferraris, Aston Martins, and Maseratis. This car was up for sale at an RM Sotheby’s auction for $875,000, though compared to the prices of the others like this sold this was a bargain. This car has such an iconic bodystyle, it is almost instantly recognisable and brings to mind so many memories of the 80s and 90s. My favorite part of any 911 with this bodystyle is how wide the back of the car is, giving a sense of dominance and control of the road. Porsche Singer 911S “Malibu”

This vehicle may not look like it, but this is in fact made by Ford. This isn’t the first supercar produced by the iconic brand, as they have had the previous GT40, the 2005 GT, and this newest generation of the GT. This car is painted in a very special 1-of-1 paint purchased as a special option by Graham Rahal, an option chosen to recreate Lamborghini’s “Viola Parsifae” purple paint. This paint has a slight pearlescent hue to it, said to make the car shine brighter in the sun and darker in the shade, which is something that you don’t see with every car. This Ford GT has only a 3.5 liter 6-cylinder ECOBOOST engine, but it produces a startling 647 horsepower that pilots this car to 60 miles per hour at standing in just 2.9 seconds. Even though this is an Ecoboost engine, it can still be very powerful as it can push the car to a top speed of just about 217 miles per hour. This car is pretty much just a stylish race car for the road with its hyper-aerodynamic design and a curb weight of just 3,047 lbs. Overall, this car is spectacular and one of my favs of my visit. 2018 purple Ford GT
